Destination: Delhi – Varanasi – Bodhgaya – Nalanda – Rajgir – Vaishali – Kushinagar – Lumbini – Kapilvastu – Sravasti – Lucknow – Sankasia – Agra

Day 01:  Arrival Delhi 

Arrive at Delhi International Airport. Welcome to India! You will be met at the airport by representative. Transfer to hotel. Overnight stay at the hotel in Delhi.  

Day 02:  Delhi  – Varanasi – Sarnath  – Varanasi 

After breakfast transfer to airport to board the flight for Varanasi. Upon arrival at Varanasi travel to Sarnath, the place where Sakyamuni Buddha first gave his sermons and visit Dhamekh Stupa. It is said to mark the place where Buddha gave his first sermons. Following that, visit Sarnath Archaeological Museum the oldest Archaeological Museum in India and it exhibits the Buddhist artifacts recovered within Sarnath. Lastly, see the Chaukhandi Stupa an important Buddhist Stupa which was originally built as a temple to mark the site where Buddha met his first disciples. Dinner & overnight stay at hotel in Varanasi. 

Day 03:  Varanasi – Bodhgaya 

In the morning go on a Ganges River sunrise cruise where you can witness the sunrise and see the Bathing and Cremation Ghats. To see the day, unfold at the Ghats, you must rise before dawn to join the pilgrims. Following that, travel to Bodhgaya. Dinner & overnight stay at hotel in Bodhgaya.

Day 04:  Bodhgaya 

After breakfast, visit the Mahabodhi Temple which is an architectural amalgamation of many cultures. The temple is also said to mark the site of Buddha’s enlightenment. Then head over to Sujata Kuti, a Stupa created in memory of Sujata, the daughter of the Senani (Village chief) of Uruvela, who offered Buddha a meal of milk rice and honey and Sujata Village, the Village named after Sujata located near the Maha Bodhi Temple. Dinner & overnight stay at hotel in Bodhgaya.

Day 05:  Bodhgaya – Nalanda – Rajgir 

After breakfast, travel to Nalanda and visit Nalanda University, one of the oldest universities of the World & International Centre for Buddhist Studies. Thereafter, visit Gridhakuta Hill in Rajgir, the seat from where Buddha delivered many of his sermons. It was here that the teaching of Buddha was recorded in writing for the first time. Dinner & overnight stay at hotel in Rajgir. 

Day 06:  Rajgir – Vaishali 

After breakfast drive to Vaishali and visit Buddha Stupa I and II. The stupas are 2 of the eight that contain part of the ashes of Buddha. Dinner & overnight stay at hotel in Vaishali.

Day 07:  Vaishali – Kushinagar 

Breakfast at hotel, then drive to Kushinagar. There, visit the MahaPariNirvana Temple, the temple built to commemorate the place of the great passing with reclining statue of Lord Buddha. Following that, visit the Ramabhar Stupa the site where Lord Buddha was cremated and relics divided into eight equal parts. Dinner & overnight stay at hotel in Kushinagar.

Day 08:  Kushinagar – Lumbini 

Breakfast at hotel, then drive to Lumbini and visit the Mayadevi Temple, the main temple of Lumbini that sits above the birth place of the Buddha. Then, visit an Ashokan Pillar which was erected by King Ashoka during his reign inscribed with edicts or inscriptions on Buddhism. Dinner & overnight stay at hotel in Lumbini. 

Day 09:  Lumbini – Kapilvastu – Sravasti 

Breakfast at hotel & Start the journey to Sravasti and enroute, stop at Kapilvastu – The capital of the Shakya Kingdom. It is also the place where Buddha spent most his younger years growing up in the midst of luxury away from the miseries of life. Dinner & overnight stay at hotel in Sravasti.

Day 10:  Sravasti – Lucknow 

Breakfast at hotel, then proceed to visit Jetvana Vihar the temple which sheltered Buddha for 24 rainy seasons as he gave his teachings. Then, see the Angulimala Stupa, one of the stupa that was excavated in Sravasti built by Angulimala, a dacoit who became an important disciple of Buddha after hearing his words. Dinner & overnight stay at hotel in Lucknow. 

Day 11:  Lucknow – Sankasia – Agra 

After breakfast then head to the last site Sankasia – The site where Buddha descended from heaven after giving sermons to his mother in heaven. It is also known for its temple dedicated to Bisari Devi. However, today, it is a site of ruins. Following that, travel to Agra. Dinner & overnight stay at hotel in Agra. 

Day 12: Agra – Delhi + Departure

Early morning breakfast at hotel & proceed to visit Taj Mahal – One of the 7 wonders of the world. The world famous white marble mausoleum. It was commissioned by Emperor Shah Jehan as a tomb for his beloved wife Mumtaz Mahal. After sightseeing drive to Delhi. Upon arrival transfer to hotel/restaurant for lunch. After lunch drive past India Gate, President House, Parliament House & Govt buildings. After dinner timely transfer to airport flight back to your onwards destination.
